"Lunch Is On Us"
We recently started an outreach called " Lunch Is On Us". Below is a story about what recently occurred.
I was driving on I-75, exited at Mitchell and approached the stop sign. At the stop sign, I saw a homeless veteran and asked him if there was a McDonald’s close by. He said, “yes, right up the street.” So, I gave him the $5 “Lunch is on us” McDonalds gift card and said, “this is for you to show you God’s love in a practical way.” He said, “God bless you!”
“Kindness to Go!”
This is a fun way to remind people of God’s love as you go about your regular errands. Each bag contains a handful of small gifts with a card attached that lets the recipient know that God loves them and his love is free. The idea is to give the bag to someone you encounter along the way as you go about your daily routines. This could include: the store cashier, gas station attendant, bank teller, drive-through worker, bus driver, librarian, or any other person you interact with briefly. Perhaps maybe you know someone who is ill, has few friends, or is new to the neighborhood. These handy “do-it-yourself” Kindness to Go bags are designed for you to “be the good news” behind the scenes.
How does “Kindness to Go” work?
It’s easy!
Step 1: Grab a “Kindness to Go” bag at the front door at church.
Step 2: Take the bag with you when you go shopping, or to the bank, or a restaurant, school, work or wherever.
Step 3: Give or leave the bag to the person who served you. When asked, “Why are you doing this?” Reply, “Just showing God’s love in a practical way.” (tip: smile when you show God’s love and at a restaurant also leave a generous tip)
